Weekend Retreat

Paris is amazing but sometimes it’s nice to escape the hustle and bustle for a day or two. One of the most beautiful things about the city is that you can find serene countryside just minutes away. This past weekend I packed up my pajamas and running shoes for a relaxing two days in idyllic and shockingly sunny Versailles, where Megan lives.

Versailles is a mere 30 minutes outside of Paris. While most of it seems urban, the area surrounding the Chateau de Versailles is like stepping into a rural paradise. Les Jardins du château de Versailles are free to the public, giving everyone access to the beautifully manicured palace gardens and woodlands full of trees and wildlife. This past weekend’s weather couldn’t have been more perfect for a run through the gardens.

When we weren’t outside taking advantage of the beautiful weather, my friends and I were eating. It was so nice to save money and cook for a change. Below is a montage of some of the delicious treats we whipped up in the kitchen including:

  • Pancakes + homemade cinnamon apple compote
  • Raspberry pancakes
  • Roasted brussel sprouts + fingerling potatoes
  • Tomato + emmental tarte
  • Mixed green salad + roasted prosciutto-wrapped pears + cherry tomatoes + crumbled goat cheese
