Is this summer really over? It’s time to move out of the dorm, get back to the South, and most importantly, ANNOUNCE THE RED VELVET CHAMPION!
It has all boiled down to this moment. After trying several of NYC’s favorite “cupcakeries”, I definitely saved the best for last, because a week ago, I had the BEST red velvet in New York City. It was the perfect size with melt-in-your-mouth texture and that good ole red velvet-ness I’ve been longing for over the last nine weeks.
And the award goes to…BILLY’S BAKERY! (ding, ding, ding)
I had a red velvet cupcake from Billy’s last summer and remember being just as blown away. And a year later, Billy has still got it going on! I can’t decide what I love more — the cupcakes or the 1950s-inspired design of the bakery. From the minute you walk in, you’re taken back to the simpler, mom-and-pop shop kind of days. If you don’t love red velvet, or cupcakes for that matter, try one of their many amazing-looking baked goods…
