Hummus is Yummus

Last night I scratched Hummus Place off my bucket list. Jess and I went to the West Village to explore Bleeker Street and have something healthy for dinner. We searched for Hummus Place, after being led to the wrong address. There is NOT a Hummus Place at 99 Macdougal Street anymore.

So with Jess’ ingenious memory, she led us to the one off Bleeker. We arrived just in time for 1/2 off alcohol so decided to treat ourselves to a bottle of house white wine to share ($5.50 per person!) I ordered the health salad (freshly cut tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley and  onions) and the veggie couscous (whole wheat couscous, vegetables, chick peas, raisins, caramelized onions and roasted almonds). Jess opted for a true hummus plate, ordering the hummus masabacha (topped with whole chick peas, olive oil and spices).

Our meal was complete with warm, doughy pita bread — perfect for dipping in the hummus, couscous and soup. We both felt refreshed and detoxed after a long weekend of overeating. If only this wasn’t our last week, otherwise I’d make it a Tuesday night tradition!
