Local fruits and veggies, oh my!

After we left the flea market, Jess and I continued our adventure through Brooklyn. We didn’t have a map — just intuition! I was desperately searching for a cheap thirst quencher and luckily stumbled upon a fresh squeezed lemonade stand. Watching the guy physically squeeze each lemon in front of me, add water and sugar made the drink all the more refreshing. Perfect afternoon delight on such a hot New York summer day.

Right when we were planning on popping into one of the many cute cafes lining the street for some “appies” or appetizers, we ran into a local outdoor market next to Fort Greene Park. Nostalgia for Paris resurfaced as we browsed the endless tables of colorful fruit, fresh vegetables, delectable cheeses and fish. After a little research, I discovered that the market is called the Fort Greene Park Greenmarket, open year-round on Saturdays from 8am to 5pm. Check out their website for more information on their sustainability and local initiatives. Here are some pictures of the produce I snapped during our stroll — prepare to be amazed…
